Photo-shooting!!!

All the YES 2 teams had their photo-shooting session today. =) It was a total first time for us.

Equipments - Professional! Just like how u see in America's Next Top Noodle,I mean model (Umbrella's here and there, flashlights and fans to create the hair floating look)
Photographer - Jenric from YES 1. Heavily equipped with EOS camera.
The feeling - Nervous, but determined to get at least ONE cover shot!
Make Up - None, only gatsby wax.

As I had basically no photo-shooting experience, except for all those candid shoots with friends, so needless to say was having hard time posing and facial expressing. The photographer kept asking me to "SMILE la wei, SMILE!", I was like "I'm smiling! Cant you see?! See the teeth??" Chee Yee was also telling me the exact same thing. Eventually the both sides of the cheek went numb and stoned.

It's not that I don't wanna give my biggest smile possible to the camera la, but you know, some people are just born to be cool and take Cunningly-Killer-Styled photos instead of that Upper-Teeth-Exposed-Smile with Knuckles-Supporting-Yer-chin photos ma. Individuality and originality is highly important right?

My team mates Chee Yee and Joey did a great job though. Borned photogenic, so lucky. =)
Awkward and awkward it was. But had great big laughters along the way. I guess I was the most hard to sculpt model ever encountered. Luckily Jenric was kind enough to spendmore shots to squeeze out some acceptable shots. It does takes the stress away preparing for the many upcoming Maybank MoneyTree events. =) Oh, guess I should just cut off the idea of getting onto a part time model job……

Didn’t dare to preview the results. Lets hope for the best. Coming out very soon. =)

3) Enjoy and laugh at every little moment

5) Holding your smile too long will cause cheek pain and numbness

KEEP LOOKING and DON'T SETTLE


A speech from a successful guy caught my attention strongly.

It goes like this......

You gotta find wat u love, that is true for work as it is for your lovers.

Your work is gonna fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied, is to do what you believe is great work.

And the only way to do great work, is to love what your do.

If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. DON’T SETTLE!

As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.

KEEP LOOKING AND DON’T SETTLE!

Another part of his speech:

For the past 33 years, i look at the mirror every morning and asked myself: " if today were the last day of my life. Would I want to do what I am about to do today?"

And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I will be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in my life.

Because almost everything, all external expectations,all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure- these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truely important.

Remember that you are going to die, is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

I hope everyone finds what they really want in life! and live it! =)

Greenergy In Top 6!!

Greenergy was announced top 6 in MoneyTree YES Challenge! It was a mixed emotional moment, somehow we felt that the coming challenges will be flooding us all over. But definitely one of the memorable moments in our lives. The presentation made on the day was in my opinion a normal one, though we heard lots good comments from friends as well as from Brandon who was one of the judges during Q &A session. Maybe it was because of the insomnia on the previous night, seemed to have fidgeted during the Q & A session. But overall, we were still very confident in getting through to the top 6.
ChenChow even SMSed me right after the presentation that our team was asured of the Top 6 spot according to his predictions.

Behind the scenes.
On the night before, we were rushing our heads off with the financials and also the presentation speech. Michael added some points to improve on the day before which we immediately drill in to accomplish it. Anyhow, after looking on teams presented that day, we had a wake up call on how much detail and depth on what we could have done on our presentation on saturday.

Despite completion of the presentation speech, I end up waking up at 3am (heart beat out of control) rehearsing the speech over and over again. Had a few moments of doubt 6 hours before the presentation. But finally I manage to pull myself together and work it against the negative emotions.

What I have realised
During times of despair, our minds somehow enjoys creating drama and predictions on how bad things will turn out to be, while in reality everything is just fine!
It is through our determination and believe to ignore the self made scenario and continue our efforts towards the ultimate goal.
Believe in what the mind tells you? End up giving up hope and eventually leads to a poor result.

The Road Ahead
The road of Entrepreneurship has just begun for us. We do have a stated plan on how we are about to realize our business idea. But hey, there are so many links and pieces yet to be assembled to get the engine started. Honestly speaking I have no idea regarding how we are gonna put those pieces in place. But with all the supports from our mentors and friends, theres no reason whatsoever on how we can't make it. I have high hopes on our business idea and team. Anticipating lots of fun and surprises to be unfold among us.

Read on this metaphor the other day:
Imagine a car driving through the night, and the headlights only brightenes 2 meters forward.
If you wanna make it all the way from Johor to Kedah driving through the darkness, all you have to see is the next 2 meters.
Thats how life tends to unfold. You just have to trust that the next 2 meters will unfold after that, your life will keep unfolding, and it will eventually get you to the destination or whatever it is that you truely want.












Next up will be the Big pitch where we will pitch for money from the investors.
Brandon noted that for the way we presented on saturday, it was not even worth RM2 invested. Lots of works to be done to convince the investors.

Will be actively meeting with our mentors right after my Final Year Project. Cant wait to uncover the next 2 meters ahead!!

The JOURNEY AHEAD

Life has been wonderfully challenging since our participation in Maybank-Monay Tree YES Challenge!


It is especially thrilling when Greenergy is now the Top 6 team. The journey has just embarked. Way down the route, there are so many things that we need to learn and execute at the same time.

Special thanks to Wong Yu Vee, Micheal Reyes, Brandon Liew, Chen Chow Yeoh, and all the judges for the opportunity and advices given. We will do our best to make this 'sexy' idea become a real green business!

People have been talking about recycling for a long while. We all know the importance of recycling in helping to conserve the environment. However, only 4% turns up to become avid recyclers.

Our (Greenergy) challenge now is to bring up this number and motivate people to start recycling.

How? We believe in linking pleasure to motivate people to recycle. Sounds good? Yeah, this is exactly what Greenergy will be doing.

To all of you out there, stay tune! You will find the excitement doing recycling with Greenergy! Remember, we are Greenergy, we committed to building a greener future!

Find A Way To Make It!

Internal meetings, calling up potential affiliates, drafting the business idea, planning the financials... we are preparing for the next pitching session!


Yay! We got through the top 12! Greenergy next target is to be qualified for the next judging session!

Team mates, we are approaching our goal step by step! Keep the spirit up high to influence more people to support our idea!

Our main priority now is to sort out those potential organisations and bodies who can aid us in making our business a reality. Managed to make appointments to meet them. It is a good sign.

Thankfully the judging session is 2 weeks (hmm... 10 days later). We are confident to get more things done during this period of time.

Thou shan't mess with Greenergy! We will do beyond our best to get to Top 5!

Building a successful business

It's the CLIMB

WoW~ We got into Top 12!!!

Before I check my mail, I was still watching the video clip done by 5GdotMy of UM Next Tycoon (They just uploaded in youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsSaXuKIGYw&feature=related but having hot discussion in Facebook). A lot of feelings came across my mind, especially till the 3rd part of the video shooting…I recall what I said and this is the reason why I continue climbing in another platform – YES 2 Challenge!

Even though our group (Xeno) only got 3rd runner up whereby no prize at all, but at least we able to contribute around RM500 to charity (From the committee: You guys are one of the highest contributor!) I believe with the exposure and experience that I gained from my business as well as UM Next Tycoon will definitely help me in climbing up to the next level of YES 2 Challenge 'mountain'!!!

Great job teammates JZ & CheeYee!

Keep On Moving Forward



"Results for the Maybank MoneyTree YES Challenge BreakThrough Session would be announced today....Tabulation of scores almost completed...Intense! Looks like there's a draw!..Which means....a decision would have to be made....a Tough decision....Stay tuned for updates...." by Mr. Wong UV.

Quite nervous after reading this from facebook, really agree with JZ Wong that no matter how the result is going to be...we still need to KEEP ON MOVING FORWARD to realize the mission and vision of Greenegy!

I believe business is about trying a new thing as well as solving others problem. With Greenergy, we come out with a new business concept toward creating a tremendous impact to improve recycling habits in Malaysia starting from youth. Hence, it can help us to build a greener future by solving environmental problems.

Hopefully we can keep on running as fast as tiger in the year of tiger!!! Also, stop the tiger killer (calling for the protection of tigers)!

I believe


Having insomnia tonight with a good cause. Ideas are rainfalling in my mind. Ideas to further enhance the business. I can clearly see the path forming right now.

I believe.
Not to get shortlisted, not to get to top 5, not to be the winner, but believe to making this a successful and profitable business, to really influence more people to start recycling and to become "that" person.

Maybe it's just the rush for the moment, but for this moment, i truely believe it!

Back to present.
The next presentation will be on this saturday. So much to prepare and rehearse before saturday. This will be the next "make it or break it" week.

I believe. ^^
Results will be out in a few more hours time.

Breakthrough Session




Thumbs up for Money Tree for holding up such a great event! Me and my team Greenergy totally enjoyed the event.

2minutes + 2 questions from judges was the determining factor for our continuation or elimination in this journey.

Overall, we did the best that we could during the preparation and presentation. Certainly hope that we can get through the top 10 stage and all the way through. We were the 4th team to present on the day. Presentation went on smoothly and the judges were very kind on the questions with our team. Neil was one of the judges who expressed that he like the idea that we came out with. ^^ Yu Vee was as well very supportive, congratulating us right after the presentation. Encouraging words him gives us the confidence. Was really glad of that.

Besides the presentation, I felt the more important aspect of the day was being able to meet with lots of great people with great minds. We were definitely privileged to have met up with these people. Mr Chen Chow was very kind in sharing his insights and provided loads of points in improving our business concept. Hope to be able to meet up with him for discussions in future. Mr. Lai and Mr Michael Reyes who was the judges that day too was very kind in giving comments on our ideas during break-time.

Breakthrough session was a mix of entertainment and business. Michael and Dr.Siva was a real star among the judges. ^^ Contestants do get a hard time with their critical questions, but hey, it was a wake up call for us on what to expect for the next round. The crowd do however enjoyed the scene. Loads of funny moments from the contestants as well as from judges . =)

For our business idea, we have noted key points brought on by the judges and will definitely get on more research and meeting sessions with the mentors.

Later that night we got to add Neil to our facebook. Was a real shocker to know about his age regardless remarkably achieved levels way beyond his years. Really driving in the urge to raise the standards in my life.

Enjoyed the chat session in facebook with Mike, Yu Vee and all of the great people that we have just met today.

Results will be out on Monday. Confidence to get through is there, but we will see the verdict then.

Successful meeting encounters.^^

We have just met Yu Vee for the evaluation on our elevator pitch and business idea. Guess what? he liked it although we still got a lot of aspects to improve on. Getting the feedback from Yu Vee has really boost up our confidence in making this journey happen all the way through.

Later that day, we have met up with UM cares environmental secretariat Dr. Zeeda and Miss Navarani the project officer of UM cares. UM cares is a society set up by the environment department of Universiti Malaya. Both Dr. Zeeda and Miss Navarani has been very supportive and encouraging upon hearing about our business idea. They agreed that getting people to recycle has been a very challenging task and has been unsuccessful all these while. They are glad that the idea can actually make a difference in this issue.

Throughout our discussions, we were happy to know that UM cares are actually linked to many other societies and departments such as the ministry of higher education and alam flora. There is even a waste management advisor available to assist us in this manner.

Over all it was a real success on the meeting with the both of them and they express their desire to be open to have future cooperation with Greenergy. Definitely a good sign in our part.

To be able to kick start for our recycling programme in Malaysia's number 1 university can be a huge stepping stone in Greenergy's journey to the top. ^^

We Learn It the HARD Way

The experience from generating a business idea, to writing a compelling executive summary, summarizing it to a synopsis and finally coming out with an elevator pitch, is nerve-wrecking but definitely cracking!!

Would like to say ‘thank you’ to my committed and competent teammates – y’all have been so resourceful. Although guidance from mentor is what we are lacking, but hey-hey, we are learning and improving day by day.

We learn it the hard way, but the better way!

We fall, but we are able to stand up the next minute.

We let nothing defeats us.

Keep the spirit high fighters!

Approaching Our Prospects

Called up with one of the top executive of Tetra Pak Miss Teresa today to discuss on our business idea.

Tetra pak is actually a beverage pakaging company. Mainly all the packet drinks are pakaged using tetrapak cartons.
We obtain a lot of positive feedbacks from her and she was really supportive in this idea of ours. We were even requested to send in our proposal for her to evaluate on. Overall a very positive feedback from her.
Identified some key aspects from what their company are looking for in partnership companies like ours.



Just scheduled a meeting with UV Wong on thursday to discuss with him on our business idea. Will be working hard these days to come up with the best that we can.

Looking forward towards this saturdays' pitching session. I will be great.

How Recycling can Help Stop Global Warming

Aluminum Can Recycling
Recycle Aluminum - Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours -- or the equivalent of a half a gallon of gasoline. It takes 95% less energy to recycle aluminum than it does to make it from raw materials.

Recycle Steel Cans

Recycle Steel "Tin" Cans - A 60-watt light bulb can be run for over a day on the amount of energy saved by recycling 1 pound of steel. In one year in the United States, the recycling of steel saves enough energy to heat and light 18,000,000 homes! It takes 60% less energy to recycle steel than it does to make it from raw materials.
Recycle Paper
Recycle Paper - Each ton (2000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water. This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less of air pollution! The 17 trees saved can absorb a total of 250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air each year. Burning that same ton of paper would create 1500 pounds of carbon dioxide. It takes 40% less energy to recycle newspaper than it does to make it from raw materials.

Recycle Your Plastic

Recycle Plastic - Recycling plastic saves twice as much energy as burning it in an incinerator. It takes 70% less energy to recycle plastics than it does to make it from raw materials.
Recycle Glass

Recycle Glass - The energy saved from recycling one glass bottle can run a 100-watt light bulb for four hours. It also causes 20% less air pollution and 50% less water pollution than when a new bottle is made from raw materials. It takes 40% less energy to recycle glass than it does to make it from raw materials.
Recycle Your Motor Oil

Recycle Your Used Motor Oil - Two gallons of used motor oil cangenerate enough electricity to power the average home for one day, cook 48 meals in a microwave oven, blow-dry a person’s hair at least 216 times, vacuum a house for 15 months or watch television for 7 and a half days straight! (180 hours)
Use Recycled Paper


Use Recycled Paper - Using 100% post-consumer recycled paper for your printer or copy machine keeps 5 pounds of carbon dioxide out of our atmosphere per ream of paper.

Reuse Your Grocery Bags

Reuse and/or Recycle Your Grocery Bags - When 1 ton of plastic bags is reused or recycled, the energy equivalent of 11 barrels of oil are saved


Use a Reusable Cloth, Hemp or Mesh Shopping Bag - A sturdy, reusable bag needs only be used 11 times to have a lower environmental impact than using 11 disposable plastic bags.

Our team has been gearing up the effort in improving our business idea. A huge improvement has been added to the original idea. I have extremely high hopes on making this idea a great success.

Creating lasting change.


Was listening through Tony Robbin's audio cd today. One of the phrases caught my attention.


"Most of us, the moment we get uncomfortable with something, we immediately wanna get rid of it. So we eat sumthing, we watch sumthing, we facebook (myself :p) to take away the pain of the moment. But when we take away the pain, we take away the drive to change. We gotta get thru it, its uncomfortable, but this uncomfort will give us leverage to really finally create lasting change."


I feel that this is the basis of procrastination to a certain thing that leads to a building of ignorance and bad habbits. This is what keeps us from achieveing our true potential as we dont really get the juice out things that we deep inside want to achieve.

So, from day on, act in-spite of fear. Once you conquer and hold through that painful hump, there will be one less thing that you will be afraid of and a huge muscle that you build up. ^^

When you are in uncomfortable, you know that you are growing stronger!
Welcome uncomfortable as your coach!
